She was not in any real danger, but the headache she must be experiencing would be massive. Eliza's mother concentrated and cast a Weeping Wall spell around the girl's mind, which allowed Veronica's magical energy to siphon a little more naturally while numbing it to emotional influences. Veronica wouldn't be able to cast anything while it was up, but it would provide her relief until she started learning to control her power.
